In April I returned to Pakistan for the long awaited hunt in the north/east for the Himalayan Ibex and Blue Sheep. This part of Pakistan is totally different than the other area’s I’ve hunted there  and is an extremely safe and relaxing place to be. (By the time I sent this story,10 tourists had been killed close to the same area!!) The people are by far the nicest I’ve ever hunted with anywhere!

On route to the Blue sheep area we stopped and hunted the ibex, on day 2 we snuck up on an 8 year old at 80 yds. the ibex was 41 1/2” x 40 ½” with 10” bases.  From there we moved onto the village of Shimshal, this was the starting point for the Blue sheep hunt. The village sits at 9800’ and after a 3 day trek up to an elevation of 14,400’ we were at the sheep valley, which was approx. 10 km’s from the Chinese border. With all the glaciers and high peaks this was some of the most beautiful country I’ve ever hunted in.  After a couple days of trying to get on the sheep, I finally connected with a 7 year old ram that was 26 ½” with large 13” bases. To date this was the best adventure I’d ever been on outside of Canada. I have to thank Noor Khan from Shikar Safaris Pakistan for organizing everything and keeping everything on track as we went.
